One of the things we’ve wrestled with ever since we built
our first website in 1996 was the cost of shipping. Unlike some online
retailers, we’ve never charged a “handling fee” and have always strived to
charge customers exactly what we pay the post office. It’s been challenging
though, because “free shipping” to Florida for a big package of heavy products
is much less expensive per unit than one small item to California.
New flat-rate boxes from USPS have helped to level that
field and we’re pleased to offer a series of “Pick-A-Pack” products that come
with free shipping. Rather than making the offer valid for just the holiday
season, we’re hoping to expand the choices to include nearly everything we
carry. Here’s what we’ve come up with so far – please let us know if you have
any other ideas!
