We’re slightly jumping the gun on promising neem for Ugadi in 2019. Our last expected freeze isn’t until March 1, but the forecast doesn’t show temperatures below 50 degrees. It’s highly doubtful that they would be far enough off that temperatures would drop below 32 and damage all this gorgeous new growth we’re starting to see.
This year, we’ll have neem branch tips, which can be displayed in a vase. You’ll get the prettiest leaf on stems you can arrange on your table.
We also have dried neem flowers. Neem is a day-length sensitive plants (like a poinsettia that blooms before Christmas), except it blooms in the spring. Since Florida is so much further north than India, our spring is later than it would be there. We won’t have fresh flowers until late April and they’ll be limited then.
