Neem salve – your grandmother would have called it ointment – was one of the first products we made when we started Neem Tree Farms. Even 20 years later, it’s among our most popular. It’s an all-natural formulation. Neem salve is made with neem oil (of course), coconut oil infused with aloe vera, beeswax and essential oil of lavender.
Compounds in neem oil help relieve itching and encourage faster healing of minor cuts and insect bites. Some customers report success using neem salve to help hemorrhoids (as do anecdotal reports on other neem sites). We have not seen any clinical research to support that use. I personally, however, have very sensitive skin and can confirm that various dings from gardening and rescuing dogs clear up far more quickly with neem salve than without. (In fact, I seldom go outside without a sample bottle of Anti-Itch Formula in the bottom of my pocket. It’s so small I don’t know it’s there until I need it.)
The beeswax in neem salve provides an extra layer of protection because it’s less likely to soak in quickly than other botanicals, like neem and coconut oil.
Just so you’re aware, neem salve does contain Vitamin E and aloe vera. They’re good for most people’s skin but Vitamin C is made from wheat so it is not gluten-free. Over the decades, we’ve talked to a few people are allergic to the aloe in our neem salve as well. If you have very sensitive skin or known allergies, consider using our Nothing but Neem stick. The stick is made with just neem and beeswax – both of which are considered to be extremely hypoallergenic.
Ingredients: Azadirachta indica (neem) oil, Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil infused with Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera), essential oil of Lavandula Angustifolia (lavender), Cera alba (beeswax), Tocopherol (Vitamin E) oil.
