It’s with great regret that we are forced to raise prices on our living plants. We’ve always priced our products to make a fair profit, expecting a reasonable number of returns for damaged plants.
That’s changed. Friends who work for large companies say that people are much more likely to be unreasonable when they think they’re dealing with a corporation with deep pockets — and somehow they’ve decided that we should honor Home Depot’s plant return policies. Over the last month, we’ve had two customers file complaints with Dave’s Garden and the Better Business Bureau for plants they bought months ago.
I’ve talked with one of them extensively and she is almost for-sure over-fertilizing. She doesn’t believe me and is demanding a new plant. The other planted a neem tree outside in Texas in November, obviously before he read growing directions. He insists he has emailed me multiple times but hasn’t bothered to send me copies of what he said he sent.
The consensus is that I should replace the plants to remove the complaints – but I’ve been warned that it could become an expensive process because people are likely to take advantage of it.
To make up for the price increase to the vast majority of people who buy happy, healthy trees from us, please write your comments on http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/c/2344/#b, and we’ll send you a $5.00 coupon for your next order.
And please let us know what you think! This has been gut-wrenching for me and the greenhouse staff because we’re so accustomed to dealing with happy customers…
