We ship by USPS or UPS, depending upon the products. Plants ship UPS because they are too large for USPS to handle well. Greenhouse products are shipped on Mondays and Tuesdays as weather permits. We do not ship our tropical plants “to or through” locations with freezing temperatures. We will contact you if we don’t feel comfortable shipping a plant to you. You can either accept responsibility if the plant does not survive, we can refund your money, or your order can be placed on our first-come, first-served list for when temperatures warm up.
Neem Tree Farms never charges a handling fee, even for our international orders.
We work very hard to ensure that our customers are charged exactly what we pay for shipping. That’s harder than it sounds because there are so many variables involved in packing an order, particularly if it includes plants. We will credit your account or issue a check if shipping costs are $5.00 or more under what you have been charged.
We try to ship living plants and fresh products on Mondays and Tuesdays, so they don’t spend the weekend in a box. If you need a plant more quickly, please make a note in the comment section. We make every effort to ship all orders within two business days.
Free Shipping for Retail Customer and Guests
Any order over $50.00 will receive free shipping with the exception of fresh products and living plants. The cost to ship plants has continually gone up and we can no longer offer free shipping for any orders which contain live plants. (The long story — any item with free shipping means the price of shipping has been built into the product. That’s great when we can use USPS flat-rate boxes, but it doesn’t work on plants. A tree that might cost $8.00 to ship in Florida would be nearly $20.00 in California. It’s not fair to Florida customers to subsidize that much of a differential.)
Damaged Product Returns
If your package arrives damaged, please use our Contact Us form to send photos of BOTH the product(s) and the packaging, including the label, within 5 days. Once, you have provided the proper documentation, we will file an insurance claim on your behalf with the the appropriate company.
Plant Replacement Policy
Our overriding goal is to make sure you receive happy, healthy plants. They’re carefully packed in mailing tubes and taped down so they don’t slide around.
If your package arrives damaged, please use our Contact Us form to send photos of BOTH the product(s) and the packaging , including the label, within 5 days. Once, you have provided the proper documentation, we will file an insurance claim on your behalf and replace the plant immediately.
Please review growing directions carefully. In our experience, in nearly every instance that a plant fails to thrive, the directions were not followed. We sell rare tropical plants that require very specific care. The growing directions we send are the result of years of experience in growing them and working with customers.
(For best results, check the growing directions before ordering. That way, you know what is expected of you and will be ready to care for your plant when it arrives.)
If your plant fails to thrive, please use email vicki@neemtreefarms.com with photos and photos along with a detailed description of how it is being cared for. Please include the name brand of the potting soil, the amount of sunlight and water it receives, and the name of the fertilizer you are using, if any.
We will gladly walk you through the most common mistakes to see if your plant can be saved.
We will replace your plant within the first 90 days if you have:
- Maintained communications with us.
- Followed every step within the growing instructions.
- Followed any additional steps provided by our staff.
We are always available by phone or email if your plant fails to thrive after 90 days. We will consider replacing it after that time if we believe that you have shown a good faith effort in keeping it alive.
You will have to pay shipping charges for replacing any plant that arrived healthy but failed to thrive.
