We planted too many tulsi seeds and now have extra plants! They’re smaller than they will be later this summer, but they’re well-rooted and happy seedlings. Please note that purchasing a free plant will disable free shipping and may delay your order because we only ship living plants on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Krishna Tulsi — also known as holy basil — is considered to be a sacred plant in Ayurveda In many households, it is considered to be the earthly manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi, and it symbolizes purity, health, and divine protection.

It also has multiple uses as a medicinal herb. *

Several studies indicate that holy basil contains bio-available antioxidants that help prevent damage from environmental toxins like Lindane and arsenic in rats as well as enhanced wound healing. *

A recent clinical study on anxiety confirms the traditional use of tulsi as a calming tea. Other research indicates that tulsi may have immune-boosting properties in mice. *

While tulsi can be used in recipes that call for basil, it has a much stronger taste. Most often, it’s used in a tea made pouring boiling water over two teaspoons of fresh tulsi leaves. Allow to cool and then strain off the tea before drinking.

IMPORTANT NOTES: We only ship living plants on Mondays and Tuesdays to ensure that they do not spend the weekend in a box somewhere. Including a free plant in your order will disable free shipping because they require expedited shipping. There also may be a delay in shipping your order if our greenhouse staff is overwhelmed. Our top priority is shipping healthy plants and it is a time-consuming process to ship a living plant safely across the country.

Please contact us immediately if your plant arrives damaged in shipment. If your plant becomes sickly or fails to thrive, please let us know immediately. We’ll need photos and growing conditions to help you save your plant.
