You don’t often see what scientists call the “gold standard” of testing on herbs, but we’re delighted to report that our Indian partner, Nisarga Biotech, has completed a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study that looks at whether neem capsules can prevent at-risk workers from being infected with Covid.
Healthcare workers in a teaching hospital near Delhi were given either neem capsules or placebos twice a day for 28 days. Of the 153 participants who completed the study, 11 tested positive for Covid, including three who had taken the capsules and eight who had not.
THIS REPORT IS PROVIDED AS EDUCATION ONLY. THESE STATEMENTS HAVE NOT BEEN EVALUATED BY THE U.S. FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION. NEEM TREE FARMS DOES NOT SELL PRODUCTS THAT ARE INTENDED TO DIAGNOSE, TREAT, PREVENT OR CURE ANY DISEASE.
That works out to a 55% prevention rate, less than the vaccines that are readily available in the U.S. but a critical difference for people in places like India where vaccines are still limited and other preventative measures have not been proven effective.
The full article, published in the peer-reviewed Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine, is paywalled, but an abstract with the highlights of the report is online at the National Institutes of Health library.
They used a proprietary, patent-pending capsulized neem leaf extract. Participants took the neem capsules (or placebos) for 28 days with the final Covid test on day 56. Interestingly enough, all of the patients who tested positive for Covid were asymptomatic, so the severity of symptoms could not be measured.
Researchers also assessed the safety of the neem capsules by measuring their effects on biometric markers and quality of life, with no significant changes in vitals, hematology, biochemistry or EKGs in either group.
While the study looked exclusively neem’s ability to protect against Covid and not what enables it to do so, the researchers pointed out that neem extract is known to contain anti-inflammatory and antiviral compounds, and that sophisticated computer programs showed that neem could potentially prevent or minimize symptoms by binding with the distinctive “spurs” on the Covid virus.
The study was set up as a pilot to be used as the basis for further investigation potentially. We’ll keep you updated as new reports are available.

My question relates to effects of neem capsules on those who already have had Covid. I had Covid last year with resulting memory and energy issues. Will neem capsules help me?
Yes and no, depending upon what actually causes long Covid. The most comprehensive report I could find was in https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-022-02140-w.
The highlight of the article”: “Antiviral drugs might vanquish persistent reservoirs of SARS-CoV-2. Drugs that suppress the immune system could quench a misguided immune response.” If it’s a lingering virus, neem could help because it’s a proven antiviral. * If it’s a misdirected immune response, neem will make it worse. I’m sorry I can’t be more clear but the science really isn’t there.
*Neem Tree Farms does not sell products which are intended to prevent, treat or control any disease.
October 18, 2020 test = Covid positive. Nov. 21, 2020 Ford Hospital patient received treatment of Remdesivir for 3 days with 2 biopsies taken from open leg wounds on Nov 22nd. Results = Leukocytoclastic Vasculitis with Necrosis – Covid.
With pictures, my journey of medical treatments has continued under physicians care. I recently decided to change treatments and instead take Neem Tree Capsules and use Neem Tree Oil on my still suffering leg. I am looking forward to finally (at 87 and after 3 years) hopefully finishing my Covid battle. THANK YOU
