What crazy weather — it will be 90 in Florida today but snowing in the Texas Panhandle… We’re still packing and shipping trees and plants as fast as we can, but we’re catching up on a backlog from November because it’s been so cold so long.
We’re also having some issues with California plant orders. They all need to be inspected before leaving here, but it’s hours worth of paperwork and one of the inspectors is out sick. Again, we’re moving as fast as we can, but somedays it seems like we’re not getting anywhere fast — and our top priority is always getting happy, healthy plants delivered when the weather is right.
The good news is that we’re finally getting around to potting up some of the favorite plants from our monthly Open Gardens. We can’t ship them to California or Arizona because they’ve been in the ground, but most of them are relatively rare and benefit wildlife. (All the people asking about Rangoon Creeper will be glad to know we have more than 100 of those potted and ready to go as soon as we catch up with the older orders.)
Other new plants will include coral porterweed (a hummingbird favorite); tunera or Cuban buttercup, a super-tough, incredibly xeric plant that attracts hundreds of bumblebees; and the amazing Everglade tomato.
Issues with Links
We’re not sure what happened last week, but not all of the links worked for everyone. I’ve gone back through the three major browsers — Chrome, Edge and Foxfire — to make sure they open on a computer than doesn’t know it’s me. We apologize to all the frustrated people who couldn’t read articles or get to specials — technology is great when it works!
Neem & Alzheimer’s Disease
Perhaps the most frustrating link — or lack thereof — was to the full research article on neem and Alzheimer’s disease, a report we never would have published without documentation from scientists. Rather than trying to make it look good, this time we’ll write out the entire link so that it works for everyone on every browser. http://www.ijabmr.org/article.asp?issn=2229-516X;year=2013;volume=3;issue=1;spage=37;epage=47;aulast=Raghavendra

We’ve been working on the comment section as well, but it’s not as easy to link. You need to sign in, then click on the article we “translated” to include any comments. We’ve heard wonderful things by phone but they’re not getting online easily.
And sale items!
Again, these are not linked so they look good but we know they work!
- If you’re going to spend the next few weekends outside enjoying spectacular Spring weather (finally!!!), protect your skin with a sunscreen made without ingredients banned by Hawaii, Palau and Key West, which the FDA is now calling into question (https://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm631736.htm. Through May 7, buy a tube of tinted sunscreen and we’ll send you a free Extra-Rich Neem Oil Lotion (https://neemtreefarms.com/shop/stream2sea-sunscreen-extra-rich-neem-lotion/) or an All-Natural Facial Serum ( https://neemtreefarms.com/shop/stream2sea-sunscreen-extra-rich-neem-lotion/).
- If you’re gardening, now is the time to grab a bottle of the EPA-registered NimBioSys biopesticide which treats up to 200 insect pests. We’ll send a free bar of soap (https://neemtreefarms.com/shop/neem-oil-soap-special/) that we think creates a synergy with the neem oil so that we can significantly reduce the concentration while still getting the same impact on pests! Don’t forget that you MUST follow the links in this email for the specials. They don’t show up on the main website – they’re only available to people who read our newsletters!
And if we don’t say it often enough, thank you for reading our newsletters! It’s people like you who have made Neem Tree Farms a success since we started growing neem because I wanted a bigger greenhouse in 1992!
